The Offshore Technology Institute (OTI), University of Port Harcourt, is a wholly postgraduate Institute that awards MSc degrees in three programmes, namely Offshore Engineering, Pipeline Engineering and Subsea Engineering.
The Institute was officially established in 20 December 2010 as a premier Institute for offshore technology studies with the core mandate of producing knowledgeable, skilled and ready-made graduates for the Oil and Gas industry to support the Nigerian content development policy. However, academic work started with the admission of the first batch of students in the 2013/2014 academic session.
The principal aim of the post graduate degree programmes of the Institute is to have students equipped with knowledge and skills to enable them attain their career objectives in specialised fields of Pipeline Engineering, Offshore Engineering and Subsea Engineering. The Institute is registered with the Oil and Gas Trainers’ Association of Nigeria (OGTAN).

Engr. Dr. Ebigenibo Genuine Saturday, is the Ag. Director of the Offshore Technology Institute, OTI, UniPort. He is a distinguished scholar and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Dr. holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Gas Turbine Performance and Lifing) with distinction from Cranfield University, UK (2013-2016), an M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermofluids Option) with distinction from the University of Port Harcourt (2009-2011), and a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering with Second Class (Honours) – Upper Division from the University of Port Harcourt (2001-2006).
With a career spanning over a decade in academia, Dr. Ebigenibo has progressed from Graduate Assistant (2009-2010) to Assistant Lecturer (2010-2011), Lecturer II (2011-2016), Lecturer I (2016-2019), and currently serves as a Senior Lecturer (2019 to date) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt. His research interests include Gas Turbine Performance, Thermofluids, and Energy Systems, with notable projects such as ‘Hot Section Components Life Usage Analyses for Industrial Gas Turbines’ (Ph.D. Thesis, Cranfield University, UK, February 2016), ‘Optimization of Centrifugal Compressors- A Case Study’ (M.Eng Dissertation, University of Port Harcourt, 2010), and ‘Engineering and Economic Analysis of Cogeneration- Case Study of Trans-Amadi Power Station’ (Final Year Project, University of Port Harcourt, 2006).
Dr. Ebigenibo’s commitment to education and research is evident in his scholarly contributions and dedication to mentoring students. His expertise in Mechanical Engineering, particularly in Gas Turbine Performance and Lifing, has earned him recognition in the academic community.
